Theatre Performances

Ivan Coyote has been touring solo and as part of collaborative multi media projects since 1996. They have performed in front of live audiences on stages on five continents. Ivan has told stories in theatres, at festivals, in schools, under tents, on boats, in prisons, in boardrooms, in forests, on beaches and in back yards and farmer’s fields.

If you ask Ivan Coyote, there is almost nowhere on this earth that can’t be made better by people gathering to tell and listen to stories.

Ivan can put together a set as short as seven minutes and as long as 2 hours to be included in your festival or theatre season or conference or special event. They are happy to perform in front of audiences of all sizes and shapes, and can custom design a program for you based on your technical and venue capabilities, and intended guests.

Ivan loves to collaborate with other musicians, animators, composers, songwriters and writers. Over the last couple of decades, Ivan has written and toured eight different original full-length mixed media shows with artists such as Rae Spoon, Veda Hille, Sarah MacDougall, and many others.

Ivan is also currently accepting bookings for their new one-person show called Playlist, which is a series of stories inspired by the soundtrack of their early years growing up as a sometimes lonely baby queer and not-quite-yet trans kid growing up in the Yukon in the 70’s and 80’s. Playlist blends hilarity and heartbreak in equal doses, and the stories have been visually scored with artwork by artist and animator Clyde Petersen.

Whitehorse writer and artist friends: a little story about Free Write Fridays, happening every Friday from 12-1pm in room A2402 at Yukon University. I just confirmed with catering that there will be cupcakes!!On a cold and bright winter’s day, complete with a dazzling sundog, the only sounds that can be heard at Free Write Fridays are keyboards clicking and coffee streaming. Through their role as Specialist in Inclusion and Creative Expression, Ivan Coyote is hosting weekly writing sessions open to all writers and all genres. “This is a chance to show up for yourself and your writing in a friendly and mutually supportive space. We will say hello, sit down together and then get to work,” shared Ivan on their blog. The turnout was an immediate success and the group quickly moved to a larger room! Ivan opened a session giving thanks to participants for showing up to their craft and for each other. They hope participants keep writing throughout the week and feel inspired to form their own groups. Free sessions are ongoing until April 5 on a drop-in basis from 12-1pm every Friday except for statutory holidays. (Room A2402)YukonU.ca/creative ... See MoreSee Less
